Mark Zuckerberg's American company, Facebook, has launched its new Facebook Viewpoints application . Its main purpose? To conduct market research on its consumers in order to improve, according to a statement published on its website, “products such as Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Portal and Oculus, and to benefit the community at large.”
This application was born shortly after the same company released honduras phone number list apps such as Whale , a tool that allows us to create our own memes, and Facebook Pay , a payment system that allows us to make purchases online.
Facebook has almost all the social media monopoly in the world, the person who doesn't have this app surely follows their friends on Instagram or talks to them through WhatsApp. Recently, the Instagram app has removed its likes because many of its users are affected by the number of hearts they get on a photo, really crazy, right?
Can we trust Facebook Viewpoints?
First of all, there is one essential condition to be able to download it: you must be a user over 18 years old . If this is your case, let's continue. It can be downloaded from any smartphone, on iOS and Android, but currently it is only available in its country of foundation, the United States. But they plan to share it with other countries in the future.
We already know that Facebook has a weak point with personal data, but in this new application, they wanted to get it right. They inform that the user who uses it will be aware, at all times, of the data that the company is collecting and how it will be used.

But they do acknowledge that there will be essential information that we will have to provide if we want to take the Facebook Viewpoints surveys. They say that “we will ask you for information such as your name, email address, country of residence, date of birth and gender ,” although there will be individual surveys that will require some additional data such as location.
Zuckerberg's company confirms that it will not sell the personal data provided in this application to third parties. It will not share Facebook Viewpoints activity publicly on any personal Facebook or any subsidiary of the company, without the user's permission. It also assures that the user can stop participating at any time.
In the United States there is no statute for all its states, the rules on data protection vary between them, unlike what happens in the European Union, where we have a common regulation in all countries and that all organizations must comply with. And if you don't know what we are talking about, we recommend that you read our article: GDPR: changes and new developments in the regulations.
What is Facebook Viewpoints about?
And after a brief review of the app's privacy policies, we're going to explain how to use it when you arrive in Spain.
The first step is to create an account on Facebook Viewpoints, after which you will receive an invitation to join their programs or surveys. Before starting each one, “we will explain what information will be collected, how it will be used, and how many points you will receive for completing the program,” say its creators. The points will be redeemable for dollars, in the current case, and will be received within an estimated 7 to 10 days in the PayPal account that we have
